How It’s Made
The Beauty of the “Costola alla Fiorentina”
Considered the most luxurious finishing within the leather goods’ industry, the rib (“costola”) is the edge of the skin. In the making process, a raw edge must be rounded, polished and smoothed.
The Florentine way, which is the most precious and long lasting, is a long process that goes through many steps, ending with the application of multiple coats of paint, all made by hand as tradition requires. This last phase requires highly skilled hands in order to give the rib that perfect roundness and uniformity that we simply call perfection.
